Rock Wall Winery

"I realized pretty early on meeting Andy that I wanted to work with him."
- Shauna Rosenblum

In January of 2022, after fifteen beautiful years in business, Rock Wall Winery decided to wind down their operations. To do this, they would have to sell off their winery equipment - which filled a 40,000 square foot airplane hangar in Alameda.

Oh - and they needed to do it in 6 months

Shauna Rosenblum, owner & winemaker for Rock Wall Winery, shares her journey of working with Wine Tank Broker to take their winery from full house to fully liquidated.

From Tears & Fears to "Cheers!" 🥂

"I spent the second week of January drinking vodka, eating nachos, and crying because I was like 'there's no way, I'm never gonna do it. I'm gonna go to Mexico now, there's no way this can happen...' and then I met Andy, and it happened. "

"I know how to...wine!
I don't know how to liquidate a winery!"

Shauna initially brought Andy in to do a valuation. Within that first meeting, she knew that Wine Tank Broker was the answer to their problem of selling off over $500,000 in tanks and equipment that year.

"Andy came down and said 'oh, we got this. No problem.' He made me feel very confident throughout the whole process."

With investors to pay, orders to complete, and accounts to manage, Shauna handed over the entire project of selling off their assets to Andy. Wine Tank Broker took detailed inventory of every item in the space, collecting photos, measurements, and specs, until a clear plan for what to sell and how to sell it emerged.

Taking into careful consideration the condition, quantity, and industry demand for every piece of inventory,  Andy created a custom listing for each asset, working with Shauna to refine product descriptions and recommend prices.

"Andy was so communicative and positive throughout the whole thing, and I felt like he really advocated on our behalf to try and get the best prices possible."

With everything live on WineTankBroker.com and the new listings blasting out via the Wine Tank Broker newsletter, (make that a link for signup) Andy started finding buyers, especially seeking someone who would take a large portion to create an "instant winery."

"Andy had all the right contacts, and eventually he found a winery that was interested in the majority of our equipment."

Wine Tank Broker proceeded to liquidate twenty four tanks with a total volume of  58,962 gallons, a complete crushpad, cellar equipment, and picking bins. He even found buyers for odd items such as a 200 foot catwalk.

With Andy managing the valuation, listing, marketing, sales negotiations, and shipping and logistics, Shauna could focus her attention on buttoning up all other aspects of the business, resulting in a clean close - and right on the timeline she had planned.

"Andy managing that whole part of the project gave me my time back, which gave me calm in my brain, so that I could focus on making sure that each one of these items was done correctly - which was hypercritical."

Closing the doors on a business is never easy, especially one that represents years of hard work, dedication, and passion. More than simply liquidating assets, Andy supported Shauna through an important milestone with care, professionalism, and respect for everything she had built.

While every project is unique, Wine Tank Broker's goal is always the same: to help our clients move forward with confidence and peace of mind.
